Cars, heating and particularly Air Travel create lots of CO2 emissions, which contribute to Climate Change. Emissions lead to excess heat, drought, fires, floods and stronger hurricanes. These impact livelihoods and lives, particularly of the world’s poorest.

IAHV and Art of Living UK Branches have partnered with Climate Change specialist NGO Saving Our Planet http://savingourplanet.net to raise awareness and take action. Together we’ve planted over 1,800,000 trees providing over 18,000 days of paid work and removing over 228,000 Tonnes of CO2.
Now Planting Fruit Trees
From Earth Day 2025, we’re planting fruit trees in Madagascar with Graine de Vie (GDV). GDV use the Plan Vivo carbon credit protocol to give the highest-quality monitoring of the trees and CO2 removed. Why fruit trees? Because the value of the fruit to the local people is worth over 30 times whatever you donate, helping them escape poverty!
Challenge
Global temperatures are rising because we are still burning far too much fossil fuel. 2024 was the hottest year on record, breaking the 1.5C Paris Agreement limit. Did you know the US has now pulled out?
Countries like Madagascar are hit hardest, with over 80% of people in extreme poverty. In addition, the UK in 2025 cut overseas aid by 40%, which leaves many of the World’s poorest even more vulnerable.
Solution
Our project empowers Madagascar communities to plant fruit trees, restore nature, and transform livelihoods. People are paid for every surviving tree – and keep all the fruit! A single 4-year-old avocado tree can yield 100 fruits.
The trees capture CO2, support the water cycle, boost biodiversity, and provide food and income.
Long-Term Impact
Donate £100, and we plant 250 trees for you (with 1:1 matching). Over 30 years:
- Your 250 trees remove a huge 5 Tonnes of CO2 each year
- The fruit is worth at least £3000 – 30 times your one-time donation!
PROJECT DETAILS
- Remove 1 Tonne of CO2 each year for 30 years by planting 50 trees for just £20 with our 1:1 tree matching
- Remove the UK average CO2 emissions (6 Tonnes/year) by planting 300 trees for £120
